How to get broadband & Wi-Fi community buildings
Community organisations, charities, village halls, and small businesses are finding the increasing necessity to be online to support the delivery of day-to-day operations.

It’s becoming more common for community buildings to offer free Wi-Fi access to their users. This can support the local community with a range of activities and improve the building’s facilities as well as it being a vital support for residents to gain access to devices, connectivity, and digital skills.

Before you can get a broadband connection you will first either have a phone line installed, or you can access the internet via fibre or cable.

If you don’t have a phone line you will need to place an order for a new line with BT at BT.com. It’s recommended, you speak with BT to discuss your needs as you will need to order a business line rather than residential if you are providing public internet services in your building.

Most Internet Service Providers (ISPs) will require a postal address to ascertain service. If your building doesn’t have a formal address you can request an address from the post office. There are providers who will service an order to an unserved building but may require an initial survey before an order is confirmed.
